I spend special time with Will on Sundays (like your Mondays) and Thursdays (like your Fridays)…. and I’m always looking for fun new things to do with him. I tried taking him to Khalifa Park about 2 weeks ago and got soooo lost we were both just about in tears and after an hour of driving, I gave up and went to the playground in the Mall. I wanted to give it another “go” this week, so I mustered up the strength to try it again. This time I found it! yay! We were literally the only two people in the entire park. This isn’t a typical park you would think of.. not a lot of grass or play structures – but lots of features and attractions. We entered the park for 1 dirham and then bought train ride tickets for 2 dirhams. Our grand total at this point is like 82 cents for me and Will was free. ha. He LOVED the train ride. It went around the entire circumference of the park.. which is massive.!
Tried to get a picture of us together.. that little booger wouldn’t even smile on a train!
Choo Choo!! We stopped off at the aquarium/museum area first. We only did the aquarium part, I don’t think Will would be too interested in anything museum-ish. But he loved seeing all the fish and turtles.. It was a really nice aquarium – I wish the pictures would have turned out better – it is so hard to photograph thru the thick glass.
Unfortunately this didn’t last long and we were headed to the splash park. The organization at this park leaves much to be desired – there was no way for us to get from one side to the other besides just walk. We are talking professional football stadium sized grounds here.. hot desert sun beating down, a big pool bag, and a hot 2 year old that wanted to be carried. We were both drenched with sweat by the time we got to the splash park.. I was so happy to get in the water! The entrance fee was about the equivalent of $10 for each of us… at this point I would have paid double.
NO ONE here either. I mean REALLY it was just me, will and the lifeguards.. it felt like we rented the place out.
SUPER NICE. SHADE! AHHHH!
Lifeguards everywhere.. I felt so sorry for them – they had to be bored out of their minds!
Will’s choice for lunch^^ They also had fast food (Lebanese style – Saj to go) there.. It looked so good. But I was too hot to eat anything but chips.
I could have stayed in the lazy river all day.
These cool little boats were for the youngins.. no way I could fit in there. The worker guy waved a magnet over the top and it started the engine.. Will thought he was “big stuff” driving his boat!
Wore this boy out! We took another train ride after we dried off and changed back into our still damp-from-sweat clothes.. He said Choo Choo Train all the way home! so precious. We’ll definitely be back… Our one on one time was lots of fun! I had no idea we’d even have the whole place to ourselves
I took pictures of the big board of activities and collaged them so you could better see what all they offer there:
The next day, I joined Audrey at her school for lunch for some one on one time with my girl. This was my very first time going and it was just so special… something about it captivated my heart.. like suddenly I saw how ‘grown up’ she was, how fast time has gone, and how very sweet this age is. Oh if I could just freeze time. I seriously almost got emotional in the lunchroom.
SHA BABY!
