This week I got the itch to create - and I wanted to try some different things so I made audrey this sweet tu-tu that she now won't take off! ;)I bought 1.5 yards of each green, peach and blue tulle, cut them into strips about 6" wide and tied knots around a piece of elastic that I sewed together to fit her waist. I finished it off with some extra ribbon I had hanging around.. Total cost: $4.50 - Now that is a cheap costume! Just in time for Boo in the Zoo!
Here's my lovely model early this morning!
This was my idea of a challenge - I know - it is probably a breeze for you super talented sewers, but I found this tutuorial online and have been wanting to try it out for quite a while.. The dress is reversible!! how fun is that?! It was surprisingly easy to do - I added the constrasting band at the bottom and had to use a new pattern because Audrey grew too tall for my other one. I haven't tried it on her yet - crossing my fingers it will fit!!
I'm not sure how much this one ended up costing me - I'm thinking about $12-$15 but I had tons of leftover fabric (enough to make another dress) and got two dresses in one!
This dress I actually made a couple of months ago - but I waited to post it until I was finished - I took it with me to Lake Charles to get monogrammed and I thought it turned out so good (thanks mom!) This dress was perfect for the downtown event we went to this past weekend called "Fall for Greenville." And by the way did I mention this dress only cost me $1 !! Yes - only a dollar. Charles' grandmother had all the fabric, ric rac, thread etc... in her sewing room that we cleaned out. The dollar was for the ribbon at the top :)
Here's the model! :)
Last and yes kind of least - I also did these burp cloths at the same time I did the brown and orange dress. They are for sale in in ThreadWorks (mom's store) If you like them, go buy some!! :)
Happy Sewing!!
