Crazy Carnival

Charles' company, Fluor had a big Fourth of July celebration over the weekend. Since Charles was out of town, I invited my friend, Allison and her daughter, Lillian to come along. Everything was free to Fluor families including BBQ dinner, funnel cakes, snowcones, cotton candy and all the rides you'd typically see at a carnival.. FUN~

Visitors!

We really enjoyed our visit with kenzie and deacon this week - it was so much fun for audrey and I to each have a buddy! While they were here - we mostly just relaxed and played, but we did venture out a little bit.. we went to the park, the creek, the zoo, out to lunch (thanks again kenzie!) and out for ice cream. We had lots we wanted to do - we just couldn't fit it all in! I just loved their company, however it made me homesick for all of our long distance friends. I greatly appreciated her coming all this way!

FREE MOVIE!

When school's out, kids around the country visit selected Regal theatres for the Free Family Film Festival. It's a fun-filled nine weeks of movies for kids and parents. Since 1991, Regal has provided this service to the community, and best of all it's FREE!
Selected G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. First-come, first-served seating is limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer.

I just found out about this here in Greenville and I wanted to pass it on to all of my friends in Texas and Louisiana - FREE MOVIES - every week... especially if you need something to do on a rainy day! (the one in Houston is kinda far from Katy - it is almost at 610 & the Lake Charles one is at the big movie theater by Old Navy) - see the links below:

Father's Day

We had a WONDERFUL Father's Day - We started out the morning with lots of presents for daddy to open and then off to church we went! When we got home, we feasted on ribeye steaks, twice baked potatoes and bacon wrapped green beans - Yum! After Audrey got up from her nap we went to a safari park called HollyWild - SO FUN! lots and lots of animals - we took a safari ride and got up close and personal when we got to feed some cows & deer. We even got to see a camel, rhinoceros, tigers and so much more! then we walked thru the zoo part of the park and saw many many more animals - who knew that this was only 30 minutes away from Greenville?! really neat!

Growing in Greenville

Underneath the kitchen window there is a flower box that had some pitiful looking stuff growing out of it - so i made it my own little herb garden.. Of course I'm only growing the things that I actually know their uses. Parsley - Sweet Basil - Mint... I can actually just reach out of the kitchen window and pluck some off when I need it :)

Another flower box that we spruced up - I enjoy this one a lot because I can see it from the kitchen window as well as the screened porch...

The Martha Syndrome

So, I am officially recognizing that I'm a little nutty... Yesterday I invited over a new acquaintance for dinner tonight and I have noticed that when I do this, I get a little too into it. Charles has been telling me this for years, but I see that he is right. For example, you'd think it was Christmas the way I woke up popped out of bed and began setting the table. ha!.. who does that?! I have already put the crab dip in it's appropriate fish-shaped pewter dish and placed it back in the refrigerator.. put the monogrammed napkins in the rings, glasses, plates, salad bowls, and silverware all in the appropriate places - even put the salad bowl on the table with tongs inside of it (so that i don't use them later and they'd be dirty when I needed them)... I even put the butter in the butter dish so that it would be soft and room temp for dinner time.. are you starting to get the picture?? What is WRONG with me??! If you notice the time of this post - it isn't even 10:00 a.m. This is something I know FOR SURE Audrey will grow up making fun of me for when she is older. I am trying to hold back so that the atmosphere is casual but I CAN'T!!! This happens no matter who we have over... I have a serious problem... ha haha! HELP! I really do all of this stuff early so that I'm not running around and working hard while company is here - I try to just relax and enjoy the company... did I just justify my insane behavior??

Jazz on Main St.

Wow! so much fun! they had face painting and bounce houses for the kids - as you can see Audrey LOVES to jump! she was the first one in there as soon as they finished inflating them...

Everyone just puts lawn chairs wherever they can fit them and enjoys the live music.. there were kids and strollers everywhere...

towards the end she started to get pretty tired!

We plan to go back next friday - a vey fun and family friendly event.. I just wish we had this in Katy - all of our friends would have LOVED this.

Friday Fun

Tonight we are going to try out the downtown festivites.. Every Friday night during the summer months April - September, they have live jazz music downtown and activities for kids to do.. We'll let ya know how it goes.. (hopefully the weather will hold out - it is a bit overcast today).. Also on Wednesday and Thursday nights they have bands that play every week.. I really enjoy live music - so hopefully we'll take advantage of all the festivities and entertainment while we are here!

Downtown Greenville
