Today I tried to venture out to a furniture store with the kids. I wanted to look at Indonesian style furniture for a table and chairs as well as twin beds for the kids.. I went down, got a taxi and told him where I wanted to go, even gave him the business card that has a map on it.. we got in the general direction and then LOST. up and down all these roads down by the port tons of warehouses.. what seemed like forever… since ‘guess who’ wasn’t behaving. after calling the place twice we finally found it – and i suddenly realized, no taxi will ever come down this far again for me to catch a ride home. I asked the guy to wait for me and he said sure for 20 Dhs. I thought it was better to pay and not be stranded. I loved the furniture there.. didn’t really have exactly what I was shopping for, but tons and tons of gorgeous pieces… I only got a quick 10 minute glance since – Will was literally screaming at the top of his lungs the entire time. ughhhhhh. I can go no where, do nothing without him sabotaging it. My cab ride over there was already 20 Dhs, Plus I had to pay the guy to wait for me and everything. Even the furniture guy was trying to entertain him, even held him for a bit. Nothing worked so I had to go. :( Cab ride home was 13 Dhs so grand total was 55 Dhs after tip ($15) not too bad, but still a waste. I am glad I got a feel for what is there so when we get into the villa (with Charles’ help) we can go back and see what items we can get for storage of toys, towels etc.. Oh I forgot to mention he screamed the entire cab ride home too! The sweet driver was asking me if his tummy hurt… does he have a fever?? I said no, just BAD. I am cautious about how I discipline in public, since I don’t know what their culture/laws say about that…. don’t want to end up in abu dhabi prison!!
I gave up my agenda and decided to take the kids to the rooftop pool of our apartment building…(they warm the pools during off season) Aparently I just can’t please the boy. Audrey and I were having a great time and about 10 min in, fussing, screaming crying again. {sigh}. we both got tired of listening to him and decided to pack it up and go back to the apartment… so we were there a total of 20 minutes. grrr. maybe I’ll try the beach this afternoon??? I surely cannot stay here all day every day.
^ this is when I thought yay! he is happy.. this will be a good, long, fun activity.. ha. no.
cool view, huh?! :)
aaaaaand we’re done.
**On a side note, Yesterday, I caught the kids using the bidet. Will got into some paints and as a good sister would, she was trying to clean him up before he got busted. I heard the water running and since it has a sink faucet, they were using it like a children’s sink to wash off his body art. oh my word. gross!!
