We went to Debaj Furniture today, it was our 2nd visit.. the first visit was the day I went by myself with the kids and it didn’t go so well… Today, Charles came with me and Will pulled the same stunt (in some ways I’m glad it isn’t just me) but of course I would have MUCH rather for him to behave. Thankfully, Charles wisked him away outside so I could shop with a clear head. I kept the redhead since she can just hang without disturbing too much. I found (in my opinion) very cool handmade beds for the kids.. two twin beds that match since they are sharing a room.
I saw them the first time and have kept thinking about them since. Prices were great, so I went for it. They only had one in stock, so they offered to order a second one for me from India. I felt pretty special. :) It will take a month to arrive, but we have time.
I also found this cool side table.. (ignore the table that is stacked on top).. this will go in the living room by the couch
sort of a weird angle since a lot of stuff was packed in there. I like that it has drawers and I LOVE the hardware. Everything in there was dusty and dirty, and they promised to clean it up before delivery.
I have been wanting a very casual, rustic style breakfast table, and this is as close as I could get. I didn’t opt for these chairs, I got some simple ones.. not in the picture, and not 100% what I had in mind but they’ll look great and just like the other furniture, they’ll have it cleaned up and the corners fixed (see how it was splitting) as well as they offered to change the color of the stain for no additional charge. The stain looks a bit darker in person, and definitely not as reddish. With my last experience of a table, I have learned that a super dark table = lots of crumbs and always looks dirty.. so i think this will work out just fine. Plus it is going next to the kitchen that has lighter cabinets so it won’t be tooo contrasting. There were lots of tables there that I loved, but they were all very very long. I needed something that would fit in the villa and since I haven’t been back there to measure, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Oh. I also got a bench that goes with it.. so I’ll have two chairs on the long side, one at each head and a bench on the other side. I like this option for kids. We can stack a bunch of kids down one side and have another couple over for dinner.
*again, not the chairs that are going with it. I will take pictures on Wednesday – that is when it will be delivered
^^We didn’t buy this rug, because we saw it just as we were checking out, but I love it. they have all different shapes and sizes of this pattern, I’ll find a room for it to go in… maybe mine?! :o)
I was surprised that this furniture store was “THE” only one I could find in Abu Dhabi with this solid wood, rustic style… I thought it would be everywhere..
Oh and I am looking for an armoire to fit in an alcove in our living room for our TV, I will go and get measurements and probably be back to Debaj. Very friendly people there!
I like this one: (*like i said, it was packed with furniture.. couldn’t back up far enough to take a full picture.)
