We are fortunate to have freedom of worship here in the United Arab Emirates, unlike a lot of the Middle East. Of course the area is predominately Muslim, but we were informed that there were Christian churches as well.. We were ready to look for a church and in a quick search I found very few options.. there’s one Catholic, one Episcopal, one Latter Day Saints and one Non-Denominational Church. *(I have linked up each of their websites to appease any curiosity.. just click on the names.. i am not underestimating your intelligence, I just might have some blog followers not as computer savvy as you! :))
When we lived in South Carolina we attended (and loved) the non denominational church there and we are looking forward to attending the one here. Charles and I honestly would rather identify ourselves in Christianity and not as much in denomination (I could elaborate on this if you need me to, but keeping it to the point today.. ok, well I’m trying to). We enjoyed the non denominational church (Southside Fellowship) since there were no legalism issues or pretenses present… just the Bible, a focus on Christ, a ’come as you are’ attitude… and LOTS of life application… we have high hopes that this church will be much of the same.
I was pleased to see that the church here, Evangelical Community Church, has daytime bible studies as well as age appropriate bible lessons for the children each Friday. Ahhha….I didn’t tell you that part yet.. the day of worship here is Friday, not Sunday. We are just thankful that we have a church to attend and we’ll have to mentally adjust that Friday is the day we go to church for a while. (*remember that the work week here his Sunday – Thursday)

I am grateful that we have this option and that they offer so much! One big positive to having one (faith fitting – for us) option is that we won’t have to church shop.. with each move that has been soooo difficult.. So at least we won’t have to worry about that this time! :)
