Last Day of School

Here is my pitiful attempt to get a “last day of school” picture of my two little goof-balls!

This mama has been super busy and distracted prepping for our big trip to the USA! The kids have been sensing the stress and have been a little “off” all week with extra fighting and fussing which just adds to the chaos of all the work that goes into getting ready for a 2 month vacation.!! Charles has also been traveling and super busy with work so sadly we haven’t spent any time with him on our last week here… which has also added a bit of stress… we miss daddy already!    Regardless of our challenging week, we are SUPER EXCITED to see our families in Louisiana and enjoy our summer with them once again.  In less than 24 hours our journey will begin!

Our last day here is so bitter-sweet since we will be saying goodbye to some dear friends who are moving away as well as saying goodbye to daddy for a month and a half. both are so hard.   Life as an expat really builds up some toughness and makes you handle things you otherwise wouldn’t or couldn’t…. For example – not seeing family and friends for 10 months, leaving your spouse behind for 6 weeks, 24 hour travel day with kids by yourself, living somewhere that is not your home for 2 months each year, and the many difficult goodbyes to great friends that move away and the uncertainty of your paths ever crossing again.  Out of necessity,  I have learned to mentally focus on the positive.

Mind over matter. We can do this…. !

Philippians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
