Charles was golfing in Dubai with a co-worker and clients – so we tagged along!! We got into Dubai around noon, Will desperately needed a nap and after a bunch of hotel ruckus of misinformation, switching hotels, then switching rooms, adding an extra room on and on.. eventually, we put Will down for a nap, ordered room service for lunch then I slept too and Audrey watched cartoons. Daddy left for golf when we all got settled in the hotel. When Will woke up we met up with the co-worker’s wife and headed for Mall of the Emirates.. huge. I tell ya. HUGE – there are no words to describe the size of this place. Our first priority was the aquarium. The kids loved it and so did I. The fish and sharks were incredible!!
those bright colors in the middle were a reflection from the strategically placed gigantic candy store directly across from the aquarium.
Me and Audrey-Lou.. She is in that, “I’m not going to smile just because you have asked me to” phase… and I didn’t realize my necklace was all wonky
caught a shark in the pic with Will and Audrey!
… jaws theme song played in my head. Ahhhh!
it was precious to watch them get so excited! The aquarium, although it was HUGE it was literally a tunnel you walk thru and that is it. I expected a little more, but still, it was awesome! We left there and went to the Underwater Zoo exhibit. We spent more time there looking at all the different types of fish in their own aquariums.
This one had a bubble thing we crawled under the tank and popped up inside the tank. Audrey thought this was so cool.
They had some really unusual fish!
They also had an area of reptiles and creepy crawlers.. yuck. we didn’t stay there long.
I couldn’t get the kids off of this rope bridge.. around and around and around.
After nearly losing Audrey on the escalator in the monstrous crowds, we decided to hit the (very very large) candy store.
This was my insurance policy to buy some shopping time. When will eats candy it keeps him busy enough that he doesn’t care if I’m taking a little while in a store. however, Audrey took so DANG long picking what candy she wanted, he was more than 1/2 way thru his bag by the time she was done. {Meaning, I didn’t shop.. just mall walked}.
In person this was so cool. it was strings of small paper butterflies hanging from the ceiling really far up.. I know it doesn’t look like much here.. but MAN that had to take some time!
I cannot tell you how tall this water fall was.. the diver statues were so cool looking.. they had three of these waterfalls in the same area.. the massiveness of this was just incredible.
Wow. speaking of massive.. the Burj Al Khalifa – I’m sure you’ve heard about it?!
We waited and waited and waited for daddy and his friend to be done playing golf. Finally! it was around 8:15 and we got to meet up with them. We chose a restaurant that we could see the fantastic water/light/music show. They had a different show every hour and without trying to sound like a broken record it was so massive.!! They go big here on everything. It was really entertaining and Will enjoyed it the most. He was so very tired!! Neither of the kids even ate dinner they were so worn out.
Here is a video of the show: (just watch it – you even get to see my cute kids at the end). I have a Flip HD.. any idea on why it is so grainy??
We left the restaurant at around 9:30 and didn’t get back to the hotel until 11:15! The crowds were crazy, the traffic was even worse. Both kids were asleep while we waited for the car.. I can’t belive they lasted as long as they did. We had been at the mall since 3:30. poor babies!
