Change

 

Soooo. here we are – it is crunch time – movers arrive one week from today and in the meantime I have the task of packing the suitcases.  These suitcases will be seriously loaded down since they will have to have all the clothes, accessories, shoes, books, etc.. for the next 3 months. I am also working on getting a very cleverly packed carry-on with all things to entertain two kids for a 17 hour plane ride, have family pictures scheduled, family visits and a very long list of good-byes to do.

I have been very busy/productive thus far and have prepared as much as I can for the unknowns… speaking of unkowns – so much has changed:

1. We have learned that the villa from the previous post that we were told we would be living in is no longer available.  The current resident’s project got delayed or something so they aren’t going to move.  I was obviously less than thrilled about the kitchen design, but the location to Charles’ office and Audrey's school was ideal, so the pro’s outweighed the cons.. we are currently searching for a villa in the same neighborhood and if nothing comes available then we will have to look elsewhere.  We will live in the furnished apartment that Charles has been living in until we find something.

2. We also learned that we can forego our “air shipment” to make a much larger allowance for our sea shipment.. which we have decided to go ahead and do. however.. this is difficult to choose what to pack since we don’t know anything about the place we will be living…. not sure what types of rooms etc..

3. Audrey won’t be going to preschool over there anymore (KG1). There are no openings in ACS (American Community School) and the other preschools do not accept mid year applications. booo!  We are hoping and praying for her to secure a spot in the Kindergarten… sheesh.

4. Our movers are now scheduled for Saturday 29th instead of Friday 28th

Charles just got back from the UAE today and is SO jet lagged (he was there since Dec. 30th). poor guy. He has lots of meetings/work related events this week as well as the major task of getting our taxes done. I’m so thankful in times like this that I am NOT the money  minded one. :)
