Back to the mixing bowl.

Ok, so I know i’ve been really bad about posting lately.  It just seems that I have no. time. at. all. The cookie orders came flying in and I worked diligently to complete all of them.. I had a great time doing it! however it was quite a tall task to make and decorate 152 cookies all due within 6 days of one another all the while caring for an “into everything” 11 month old and a 3 1/2 year old.  whew.

The question I get a lot right now is, “So are you still enjoying doing this or is it more than what you bargained for?”  My answer: Both. I love doing it… I mostly enjoy decorating the cookies and getting a picture out of my head and onto a cookie… very fun… The part that gets to be a bit overwhelming is the amount of time that it requires.  for example, I can generally decorate about a dozen cookies per hour but before that it takes about an hour to make the icing and get all the colors right and into piping bags and another couple of hours to prepare the dough and cut the shapes and bake. A LOT of time.  I used this surge of orders to help me gain experience as well as figure out pricing etc.  All of my “customers” have said that these GIGANTIC cookies.. (most of them are about the size of a piece of sandwich bread) should be at least $2/cookie.

so, guess what. now they are. I would be better able to justify the amount of time it takes.  The smaller cookies will be $1.50/cookie and to accommodate the people that want them party ready – I will also add the option to ribbon and tag them for an additional $6/dozen.

I love the polka dot hearts. Do you have a guide on mixing colors? Or, is there somewhere you get more variety than the traditional green, blue, red, and yellow? Great job!

Your cookies are amazing! Great job!!

and what a fun - though very hard work - way to make money from home. i know it has to be so hard, but what a blessing to be home with the kids! they will remember your diligence and dedication and incorporate that into their work ethic later in life.

that may be TOO corny, but i think of my hard working, underpayed parents that went to work without any moping or complaining EVERY DAY that i dread work or vent about what's going on! =)
